Hamadryas amphinome

This is Hamadryas amphinome, commonly called the Red Cracker because of the red on its ventral side and because it makes a cracking sound when it flies. I’ve wanted to see one of these beauties for a long time, and I finally got a good view of this one at the Missouri Botanical Gardens Butterfly House in St. Louis. A real treat for me!
