Description
This is the caterpillar of Hyalophora cecropia, the Cecropia moth. This was one big, fat caterpillar in its final instar before forming a pupa and developing into the adult moth. I love these guys--they are so colorful and dramatic looking, and so hungry!

I have actually found and raised a couple of these monster caterpillars, (of which can get around 4 inches long) and raised them to full adults. Sadly, it's been quite a few years since I've seen the larva...and I never have seen an adult flying around save for the ones I raised those years back.
